The use of IT in MSEs of João Pessoa city: a diagnosis of current situation

With technological advances faster than ever companies are adhering to the information technology resources to assist in its management. Micro and small enterprises (MSEs) and represent a considerable number to reach the Brazilian economy. Given this fact, this article aims to diagnose the current situation of the use of information technology by micro and small enterprises in the city of Joao Pessoa in Paraiba state, as some business opportunities are born out of necessity and other income. We conducted using a questionnaire with 120 entrepreneurs to identify their existing IT resources in MSEs to hinder the acquisition. The survey found that the cost factor is still the biggest problem for investment in IT and that many are still unaware of the importance of using IT to assist the company's business in pursuit of its growth and life. Another important item was the lack of IT knowledge by entrepreneurs, which makes an alignment between IT and business strategies.
