Czech Beads as Art in the Amazon? – Production of Bodies and Beauty in the Indigenous Guiana

Resumo: Based on the uses and circulation of beads between the inhabitants of the Parque do Tumucumaque and Rio Paru d'Este Indigenous Reserves (Tiriyó, Katxuyana, Wayana, Aparai), located in the north of Pará, I indicate the importance of everyday life and the alterity in the aesthetics of these Amazonian peoples. – and how this experience impacts beyond the Amazon. Mobilizing elements of the history and cosmology of the peoples of the region, I bring elements that can contribute to debates about authorship, cultural transformations and the role of women in the production of bodies and arts. This article was prepared based on bibliographic and ethnographic research, including a visit to the collection of the Museu Paraense Emílio Goeldi.

Al movilizar elementos de la historia y la cosmología de los pueblos de la región, aporto elementos que pueden contribuir a los debates sobre la autoría, las transformaciones culturales y el papel de la mujer en la producción de cuerpos y artes. Este artículo fue preparado en base a investigaciones bibliográficas y etnográficas, incluida una visita a la colección del Museu Paraense Emílio Goeldi.A partir dos usos e circulações de miçangas entre povos habitantes das Terras Indígenas Parque do Tumucumaque e Rio Paru d'Este (Tiriyó, Katxuyana, Wayana, Aparai, dentre outros), localizadas no norte do Pará, indico a importância do cotidiano e da alteridade na estética desses povos amazônicos – e como essa experiência traz impactos para além da Amazônia. Mobilizando elementos da história e da cosmologia dos povos da região, trago elementos que podem contribuir para debates sobre autoria, transformações culturais e o papel das mulheres na produção de corpos e de artes.
