Resumo: This article presents a genealogical and comparative study on the meanings, practices and policies of reparation that emerged as a result of the last military dictatorships in Argentina (1976-1983) and Brazil (1964-1985). For that, it makes use of bibliographic review, documents, and interviews. Firstly, it discusses the similarities between the tensions and ambivalences unleashed by the establishment of economic reparations in the 1990s in both countries. Subsequently, it discusses the emergence of symbolic reparations– and particularly psychological ones – in the 2000s, distinguishing the Argentine legalscenario from the context of Brazilian impunity.

Em primeiro lugar, debate as homologias entre as tensões e ambivalências desatadas a partir da instauração das reparações econômicas na década de 1990 em ambos os países.
