Resumo: By contrasting the formation of collegiate decisions by the U.S. Supreme Court (Scotus) and the Brazilian Supreme Court (STF), guided by the majority principle, this paper questions the affirmation, common in the Brazilian legal field, that the STF was forged in the image and likeness of the US Supreme Court, which would bring the two systems closer together.
