Interpretive and journalistic notes on the Amazon: Bolsonaro's speech at the UN

Resumo: In this article, we ask what meanings are produced by journalistic narratives about the Amazon based on President Bolsonaro's speech at the UN in 2020, when he blames indigenous people and caboclos for the fires. We problematize and demarcate the silencing of voices as a category of violence of power in institutional speeches and journalistic narratives in the face of social facts. We analyzed 11 articles published in local newspapers in six of the nine states of the Legal Amazon. From a theoretical-methodological view of Hermeneutics in Depth (THOMPSON, 2011), using narrative analysis as a technique, we found that a limited number of ideas are still activated, focusing the facts on officialist primary frameworks, with the absence of plural voices. in understanding the political, economic, cultural and social universe of the Amazon.

Problematizamos y delimitamos el silenciamiento de voces como categoría de violencia de poder en los discursos institucionales y narrativas periodísticas frente a los hechos sociales. Analizamos 11 artículos publicados en periódicos locales en seis de los nueve estados de la Amazonía Legal. Desde una mirada teórico-metodológica de la Hermenéutica en Profundidad (THOMPSON, 2011), utilizando como técnica el análisis narrativo, encontramos que aún se activa un número limitado de ideas, focalizando los hechos en marcos primarios oficialistas, con ausencia de voces plurales. en la comprensión del universo político, económico, cultural y social de la Amazonía.Neste artigo, indagam-se quais sentidos são produzidos pelas narrativas jornalísticas sobre a Amazônia a partir do discurso do presidente Bolsonaro na ONU, em 2020, quando culpa indígenas e caboclos pelas queimadas. Problematizamos e demarcamos o silenciamento de vozes como uma categoria de violência do poder nas falas institucionais e narrativas jornalísticas diante dos fatos sociais. Analisamos 11 matérias veiculadas em jornais locais de seis dentre os nove Estados da Amazônia Legal.
