Resumo: The objective of this article is to present the main theoretical postulates of chapter seven of the work A Revolução Burguesa no Brasil, published by Florestan Fernandes in 1975. Firstly, we will analyze the sociologist's formulations on the autocratic way of realizing capitalism in the periphery and the intrinsically reactionary characteristic of the Brazilian ruling classes. Next, we will undertake a brief reflection on how the diagnoses developed by Florestan help us understand the resurgence of the autocratic character of our social formation under the Bolsonaro Government.
