BRAZILIAN COUNTRYSIDE’S VIOLENCE IN PANDEMIC TIMES: preliminary reflections

Resumo: This article presents preliminary results on violence in the Brazilian countryside during the Covid-19 pandemic. Information was collected on various types of violence in conflicts over land and territory, registered on the websites of the main entities involved in the struggle for land between March and August 2020. For this, first, we analyze the context of continuity-discontinuity of the dynamics of capitalist accumulation in the agrarian space. We continue with the first results of research on violence in the countryside, characterization of its main forms and social groups involved, and with the spatialization of records of occurrences.

Se recopiló información sobre diversos tipos de violencia en los conflictos por la tierra y el territorio, registrados en los sitios web de las principales entidades involucradas en la lucha por la tierra entre marzo y agosto de 2020. Para ello, en primer lugar, analizamos el contexto de continuidad-discontinuidad de la dinámica de la acumulación capitalista en el espacio agrario. Continuamos con los primeros resultados de la investigación sobre la violencia en el campo, caracterización de sus principales formas y grupos sociales involucrados, y con la espacialización de los registros de ocurrencias.Neste artigo são apresentados os resultados preliminares sobre a violência no campo brasileiro durante a pandemia da Covid-19. Foram levantadas informações sobre diversos tipos de violência nos conflitos por terra e território, registrados nos sites das principais entidades implicadas na luta pela terra entre março e agosto de 2020. Para isso, primeiramente, analisamos o contexto de continuidade-descontinuidade da dinâmica de acumulação capitalista no espaço agrário.
