Resumo: This brief essay aims to discuss the different ways in which memory and place can be articulated through the experiencing of the world through the analysis and interpretation of life stories of the elders living in Serra de Piabas, at the State Park of Pedra Branca, Rio de Janeiro - RJ. This study examines how these subjects narrate their living experiences through the representation of their past by memory, as well as the articulation of these memories in the construction of senses of place and the role of place in the evocation of these memories. The guiding thread of this work points to the construction of a deep sense of belonging and attachment to place, anchored in the narrative of memories as a strategy of permanence for these subjects in the context of mediation and negotiation of their presence in a full protection conservation unit.

Este estudio examina cómo estos sujetos narran sus experiencias, a través de la representación de su pasado a través de la memoria, así como la articulación de estos recuerdos en la construcción de sentidos de lugar y el papel del lugar en la evocación de estos recuerdos. El hilo conductor de este trabajo apunta hacia la construcción de un profundo sentimiento de pertenencia y apego al lugar, anclado en la experiencia narrativa de las memorias como estrategia de permanencia de estos sujetos en el contexto de mediación y negociación de su presencia en una Unidad de Conservación de Protección Integral.Este breve ensaio tem como objetivo discutir os diferentes modos a partir dos quais memória e lugar podem se articular em meio à experiência de mundo através da análise e interpretação de histórias de vida de idosos residentes na Serra de Piabas, situada no Parque Estadual da Pedra Branca, na cidade do Rio de Janeiro – RJ. Este estudo examina como estes sujeitos narram as suas experiências/vivências, através da representação de seu passado pela memória, bem como a articulação destas memórias na construção de sentidos de lugar e o papel do lugar na evocação destas memórias.
