Resumo: This dissertation defines, relates topics and demonstrates the purpose and importance of the preservation, conservation and surveillance of the Brazilian territorial sea and the responsibility of the Brazilian Navy under the environmental prism and the performance of the Rio de Janeiro s Capitania dos Portos under the environmental theme. In order to illustrate, some examples are mentioned along the text of Navies for-active that already adopt the practice of environmental responsibility and it is equally mentioned the detailed report regarding the fight for the sovereignty of the seas and the wealth that the oceans can offer to the seasides countries.
