This paper brings up a study about the role of the photography as a language in the poetry of Carlos Drummond de Andrade and Ruy Belo and its relationship with time and memory. The poetic language wich is based on the idea of photographic representation has connotations of anguish and irony in Drummond poems and a feeling of tragedy and melancholy in the poetry of Ruy Belo. The study intends to show how these poems have a similar way in the life experiences of each one and how the memory come up distorted and mix itself to the current life and to the imagination of the two poets. This imagery experience was studied with support in the theoretical convergence of the thought of Walter Benjamin and Roland Barthes.
