This study aims to understand the work realized by women in eminently male roles in offshore industries in Bacia de Campos (Campos Basin) and verify the strategies used by workers in this role. In an ergological perspective, it is considered the point of view of the work, valuing both male and female worker s experience. This has been done through a qualitative analysis, using open interviews which allowed a deeper understanding of the issues. The analysis is based on theorical-conceptual references of the ergonomics activity and the ergology and psychodynamic work. Researches in this field tend to focus on male workers, not considering the differences between genders. The results indicate that the female workers in this field are predominantly young, single and childless and begin the offshore career aiming to obtain good salaries in order to build life . Some feel attracted by challenges and the absence of routine. Although the confinement has repercussions above the familiar and social lives of all workers, for those who have kids it is even more difficult. The ones who are better adapted count on a good domestic infrastructure onshore. Regarding the evaluation of male behavior during the boarding, the reporting referred the predominance of courteous treatment, which is not likewise received by all women. It is possible that the personal characteristics that would make the adaption to offshore work easier don t depend on gender issues, except for familiar relations. Because men and women have families, the female participation in this field can contribute to raise issues that also reach men
