Avaliação da Contribuição de um Repositório Institucional aos Objetivos Estratégicos de uma Organização Pública: o caso da Comissão Nacional de Energia Nuclear - CNEN

Knowledge is the key resource for organizations and institutions, having become one of the most important economic factors for its development. For organizations and institutions that develop new knowledge, this is strongly associated with research, which in turn materializes in the form of various products, among them include the technical and scientific production. Store, disseminate, and preserve this production is the goal of knowledge-based organizations that due to technological advances, are faced with the challenge of preserving not only their role in production, as well as its digital content. The purpose of this preservation is to allow, strategically, that this knowledge is disseminated in the institution, since it is the raw material of high value to the purposes of production of the institution. At this point, several tools have emerged with this goal among which digital libraries and institutional repositories. The Centro de Informacoes Nucleares-CIN of the Comissao Nacional de Energia Nuclear-CNEN developed the Biblioteca Digital Memoria da CNEN-BDMC, whose main objective is to preserve organizational memory by locating technical-scientific researchers of the institution. The aim of this study therefore is to assess the perception of these researchers on the importance of the implementation of BDMC in preserving, and providing access to its technical-scientific production acting as a source of support in teaching and research, as well as increasing the visibility of its researchers and the institution and identify their contribution to achieving the strategic objectives of the institution. To accomplish this research was done with a group of researchers from two CNEN institutes located in the Rio de Janeiro city, Institute de Engenharia Nuclear-IEN and the Instituto de Radioprotecao e Dosimetria-IRD and library users of CIN, using information about their production contained in International National Information System-INIS and Science Direct database. As a result of the research we can say that the users' perception of the importance of BDMC on preserving and increase visibility of its technical-scientific production, and improving internal and external communication of the institution is high, but are divided about the benefits that the BDMC may present in teaching and research and in the development of their researches. A good understanding of the role of BDMC on preserving its technical and scientific production is fully consistent with the main objective of BDMC, but the digital library has other capabilities that researchers are unaware. Needs to be made a dissemination plan of all the features and benefits that the BDMC may present in the development of technical and scientific production of the researchers and hence the Institution.
