In the popular imaginary, carnival is perceived as an equalitarian moment in which people can forget about their daily repressions and try a moment of freedom from their social and current hole of their daily lives. The streets of the city acquire a new space, where people can happily observe, discuss and criticize the world that is around them. In Ladrões de Cinema by Fernando Coni Campos, history is not told, but sung and played. As in carnival, the film, produced by the thieves, is a way to compensate their lack of power with a great deal of critivity. Throughout their action, they demonstrate that their strength is in their capacity of organization and social mobilization. It is also with the feeling of union that the members of that community own that they face a complex circumstance as organize a carnival parade or produce a historical film. When carnavalizing the history a new idetity is built up to Brazilian. A new image is produced by the lower class, becoming very different from the usual image.
