Resumo: The process of non-pathological loss of a mother tongue, here taken as L1 attrition, is a phenomenon that has only recently been investigated more thoroughly in the linguistic studies. Because of this theoretical gap, then, we seek, in this work, to interpret L1 attrition in the light of a paradigm of cognition, more specifically the connectionist paradigm, an approach not yet made in the literature of the area. In our investigation, we can see that the connectionist paradigm, sensitive to the inherent dynamicity of language, especially by predicting a complex linguistic representation and by considering the effective use of language as the trigger for language development, is a theoretical model capable of explaining language attrition. ---DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.22409/gragoata.2018n46a1136

---DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.22409/gragoata.2018n46a1136Universidade Federal Fluminense2018-08-30info:eu-repo/semantics/articleinfo:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersionapplication/pdfhttps://periodicos.uff.br/gragoata/article/view/3358510.22409/gragoata.v23i46.33585Gragoatá; Vol. 23 No. 46 (2018): Language: cognition and uses; 448-469Gragoatá; v. 23 n. 46 (2018): Língua: cognição e usos; 448-4692358-41141413-907310.22409/gragoata.v23i46reponame:Gragoatáinstname:Universidade Federal Fluminense (UFF)instacron:UFFporhttps://periodicos.uff.br/gragoata/article/view/33585/19572Copyright (c) 2018 Gragoatáinfo:eu-repo/semantics/openAccesskupske, Felipe FloresGutierres, Athany2019-08-23T11:13:23Zoai:ojs.pkp.sfu.ca:article/33585Revistahttps://periodicos.uff.br/gragoataPUBhttps://periodicos.uff.br/gragoata/oai||revistagragoata@gmail.com2358-41141413-9073opendoar:2019-08-23T11:13:23Gragoatá - Universidade Federal Fluminense (UFF)false
