Resumo: | This article presents a discussion about generative linguistics theory in relation to its historical and methodological main issues. Specially, it is intended to characterize the advancements achieved by generative grammar, from its initial formulations (CHOMSKY, 1957) until today (CHOMSKY, 2013), by using, for this task, the theoretical framework proposed by Lakatos’ philosophy of science (1978). The basic idea to be discussed here is to know how much generative linguistics has advanced our knowledge about the human faculty of language and how much this theoretical perspective has revealed promising ways to the future of linguistics research. Despite the undeniable improvements that generative linguistic theory has provided to the human language faculty understanding, the conclusions of this article argue that epistemological and methodological issues still require further detailed discussion, in order to consolidate the generative findings and proposals as a reliable scientific knowledge. |

Universidade Federal Fluminense2015-06-30info:eu-repo/semantics/articleinfo:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersionapplication/pdfhttps://periodicos.uff.br/gragoata/article/view/3330310.22409/gragoata.v20i38.33303Gragoatá; Vol. 20 No. 38 (2015): Language StudiesGragoatá; v. 20 n. 38 (2015): Estudos de Linguagem2358-41141413-907310.22409/gragoata.v20i38reponame:Gragoatáinstname:Universidade Federal Fluminense (UFF)instacron:UFFporhttps://periodicos.uff.br/gragoata/article/view/33303/19290Copyright (c) 2019 Gragoatáinfo:eu-repo/semantics/openAccessNeto, José Ferrarida Silva, Adriano MarquesKenedy, Eduardo2019-08-23T11:04:49Zoai:ojs.pkp.sfu.ca:article/33303Revistahttps://periodicos.uff.br/gragoataPUBhttps://periodicos.uff.br/gragoata/oai||revistagragoata@gmail.com2358-41141413-9073opendoar:2019-08-23T11:04:49Gragoatá - Universidade Federal Fluminense (UFF)false |
