This article discusses the qualitative data from the research: “Domestic Violence Against Women in the city of Montes Claros/ MG: a Possible Approach”, funded by the CNPq and FAPEMIG. The objective of this study was to investigate quantitatively and qualitatively violent acts against women in the city of Montes Claros, Minas Gerais. In the qualitative dimension it intends to find the meaning for the women involved and its reflexes in the family, through semi-structured interviews that were not accomplished. From the Institutional Analysis of René Lourau we reviewed this impracticability as qualitative data, examining the Police station’s routine after the “Maria da Penha” Law. We concluded that judicial intervention is not enough to inhibit the violence against women, because in certain cases discourages women to go to the Police station when they have other demands about the violence they suffer and cannot count on the Police to solve their conflicts.
