Resumo: The objective of the present study was to evaluate the psychometrical properties of both the Brazilian reduced version of CDI (Study 1) and the CDI proposed by Kovacs (Study 2). The sample in Study 1 was composed of 169 students of 3rd, 4th and 5th grades of a public school in Campinas. The factor analysis in Study 1 identified five factors explaining 49,6% of the total variance and the Cronbach coefficient was 0,73.  In Study 2, 157 students of 3rd and 4th grade of a public school in Campinas took part. Five factors explaining 43,9% of the variance also emerged from the factor analysis of Study 2. The Cronbach coefficient was 0.80. Nonetheless, in both studies, the cognitive, affective, motivational, and behavioral components of the construct child depression were not evinced. This should be a challenge which remains to be addressed by future research.

This should be a challenge which remains to be addressed by future research.O objetivo do presente estudo foi analisar os parâmetros psicométricos da versão brasileira reduzida do Inventário de Depressão Infantil – CDI e de sua versão original.
