Resumo: The  central  aim  of  this  article  is  the  realization  of  an  interim  review  of  the  History  of Historiography  in  Portugal  and  its  place  in  Portuguese  Historiography until  April  25, 1974. We will use as a source theEnsaios III Sobre Teoria da História e Historiografia, by Vitorino  Magalhães  Godinho,  Published  in  1971.  Once  the  work  referred  to  in  the political,  social  and  ideological  contexts  has  been  inserted,  a  discourse  analysis  will  be carried  out,  promoting  comparisons  with  Joaquim  Barradas  de  Carvalho's Da  História Crónica à História-ciência (1972) and Antologia de Historiografia Portuguesaby Oliveira Marques.  The  main  result  of  this  investigation,  still  indicative,  reflects  a  climate  of uncertainty  and  ambiguity.  Magalhães  Godinho  or  Oliveira  Marques  contributed  to  the beginning and the first systematization of a new history of historiography. Their efforts imply a progressive specialization of knowledge.

Their efforts imply a progressive specialization of knowledge.O objetivo central deste artigo é a realização de um balanço provisório da História da Historiografia em Portugal e do seu lugar na Historiografia Portuguesa até ao 25 de Abril de 1974 (aflorando o período que se estende até finais dos anos 80). Utilizaremos como fonte principal os Ensaios III Sobre Teoria da História e Historiografia, de Vitorino Magalhães Godinho, publicados em 1971. Inserida a obra referida nos contextos político, social e ideológico, efetuar-se-á uma análise de discurso, promovendo comparações com Da História Crónica à História-ciência (1972), de Joaquim Barradas de Carvalho, e com a Antologia de Historiografia Portuguesa, de Oliveira Marques. O principal resultado desta investigação, ainda indiciária, repercute um clima de incerteza e ambiguidade. Magalhães Godinho ou Oliveira Marques contribuíram para o arranque e a primeira sistematização de uma nova história da historiografia.
