Resumo: ABSTRACT: The infection in burnings is very common, involve of the main mechanism of defense: the skin. Thus, this study aimed to identify and to analyze the measures adopted for the prevention and control of the infections related to this area. The research was constituted by a case study and data were obtained from systemize observation and of a questionnaire applied to the teams medical and of nursing of a unit of handling of burnnings of the city of Goiânia. The results showed deficiencies related to the infection control and pointed to the need of the trainmen and update in infection control as direct patient’s care as in articles processing used for this care. Therefore the adequacy of procedure to the prevention and control of the nosocomial infections becomes necessary. KEY WORDS: burns, nosocomial infection, prevention and control.

Identificar e analisar as medidas adotadas para a prevenção e controle das infecções, foram objetivos deste estudo. A pesquisa constituiu-se em um estudo de caso e os dados foram obtidos através de observação sistematizada e de um questionário aplicado às equipes médica e de enfermagem. Os resultados mostraram deficiências relacionadas ao controle de infecção. Constatamos a necessidade de treinamento e atualização com enfoque no controle de infecção tanto no cuidado direto ao paciente como no processamento dos instrumentos utilizados para esse cuidado.
