Impaired housekeeping: nursing diagnosis in relatives of hospitalized patients with chronic ailments

Resumo: | This study aimed to identify the nursing diagnosis “impaired housekeeping” in relatives under the condition of caregivers of hospitalized patients with chronic illnesses. A descriptive research was conducted from January to June 2006, in a large hospital in the Midwest Region of Brazil, involving 12 families. Impaired housekeeping was identified in 8 families which had as most frequent related factors: illness of a family member (100%), lack of home organization (75%), insufficient financial resources (62.5%). The most frequent defining characteristics were: family members expressed difficulties in comfortably performing their housekeeping (62.5%); family members ask for help for housekeeping (62.5%) and a family member overloaded (daughter), 62.5%. This diagnosis affects families, demonstrating the need for nurses to use knowledge and technologies of assessment and intervention in families, along with the standardized languages for express its diagnoses, intervention and outcomes.Descriptors: Family; Family nursing; Nursing diagnosis. |

Investigación descriptiva, realizada desde enero hasta junio 2006, en hospital de gran porte en la Región Centro-Oeste de Brasil, envolviendo 12 familias. El mantenimiento deficiente del hogar se identificó en 8 familias que presentaban como factores asociados más frecuentes: enfermedad de miembro de la familia (100%), la falta de organización del hogar (75%), finanzas insuficientes (62,5%). Las características definidoras más frecuentes fueron: miembros de la familia expresaron dificultades en cómodamente mantener su hogar (62,5%), miembros de la familia piden ayuda en el mantenimiento del hogar (62,5%) y miembro de la familia sobrecargado (hija), 62,5%. Este diagnóstico afecta a las familias, destacando la necesidad de que los enfermeros utilicen conocimientos y tecnologías para la evaluación e intervención de familias, junto a las lenguajes estandarizadas de enfermería para expresar sus diagnósticos, intervenciones y resultados.Descriptores: Familia; Enfermería familiar; Diagnóstico de enfermería.Este estudo objetivou identificar o diagnóstico de enfermagem “manutenção do lar prejudicada” em familiares, na situação de acompanhantes de pacientes hospitalizados com doenças crônicas não transmissíveis. Foi realizada pesquisa descritiva, de janeiro a junho de 2006, em hospital de grande porte da Região Centro-Oeste, envolvendo 12 famílias. A manutenção do lar prejudicada, identificada em 08 famílias, teve como fatores relacionados mais frequentes: doença de membro da família (100%); organização do lar insuficiente (75%); finanças insuficientes(62,5%). Características definidoras de maior ocorrência foram: membros da família expressam dificuldade para manter a sua casa de forma confortável (62,5%); membros da família pedem ajuda para a manutenção da casa (62,5%) e membro da família sobrecarregado (filha), 62,5%. Este diagnóstico afeta as famílias, evidenciando a necessidade dos enfermeiros utilizarem conhecimentos e tecnologias de avaliação e intervenção em famílias, juntamente com linguagens padronizadas para expressar seus diagnósticos, intervenções e resultados alcançados.
