Resumo: ABSTRACT: This article presents a practical nursing assistance realized at the surgical center of a University Hospital. It aimed to prevent and decrease the stress during the biliary vesicle and abdominal hernia surgical process. Supported by the Betty Neumann’s theory and the Paulo Freire’s educational and healthy concepts, different approaches were used, including presurgical orientation, entertainment activities and group dynamics. Patients were found to need more information about their on situation and yet, it was found that a more humanistic treatment including pedagogic approaches and entertainment activities could help on the recovering process. This work made us believe in the importance of the attention gave by the nursery team for the hospitalized people. KEY WORDS: Perioperative Nursing; Stress, Health Education.RESUMEN: El presente trabajo se refiere a una práctica asistencial realizada en un Servicio de Cirrurgía de un Hospital Universitario, que tuvo como propósito prevenir y reducir los estresores que influyen durante el proceso del acto quirúrgico de los clientes sometidos a cirurgias de vesícula y hérnia de la pared abdominal. La fundamentación fue com base en la Teoría de Betty Newman y la contribuición de los conceptos de Paulo Freire, trabajando la educación para la salud. Fueron utilizados diferentes abordajes, tales como: la orientación pre-operatória, las actividades lúdicas y las dinámicas. El estudio posibilitó concluir que es necesario un mayor esclarecimiento e información a los clientes de la unidad, asi como, momentos de descontracción, considerándose como fundamentales para el fortalecimiento de las lineas y/o mecanismos de defensa del cliente. Acreditamos en la importancia de la atención por el equipo de la enfermería durante la etapa de hospitalización. PALABRAS CLAVE: Enfermería Perioperatória; Estrés; Educación en saludRESUMO: Este trabalho refere-se a uma prática assistencial realizada com clientes, no período pré-operatório, em uma unidade de clínica cirúrgica de um Hospital Universitário. O propósito foi de prevenir e minimizar os estressores do processo cirúrgico de clientes com cirurgias de Vesícula e Hérnia de Parede Abdominal. Para a metodologia nos respaldamos na Teoria de Betty Neumann com contribuição e conceitos de Paulo Freire, trabalhando a educação em saúde. Foram utilizadas diferentes abordagens, como orientação pré-operatória, atividades lúdicas e dinâmicas. Os resultados desta prática demonstraram que o cliente necessita de um maior esclarecimento e informação. Os momentos de descontração, também foram fundamentais no fortalecimento das linhas de defesa do cliente, segundo a teorista. Esta assistência revelou a importância da atenção prestada pela equipe de enfermagem durante a hospitalização.
