Resumo: | ABSTRACT: This article regards a bibliographic revision that develops reflective considerations according to the view of many authors regarding the humanized assistance to delivery and birth. It also discuss the point of view from these authors about the biomedical approach that is still developed in many Brazilian hospital health institutions for women on pregnancy and puerperal period, where is possible to find conducts and attitudes considered as interventionist that constitute a discordant process with the official rules of women health policy. From this sight, the humanization of delivery and birth assistance was considered as a main point in the process of care of the parturient. In that way, we conceive that care in parturition is important and this care must be internalized and lived by health professionals of this area. KEY WORDS: Nursing Care; Humanizing Delivery; Obstetrical Nursing.RESUMEN: Este artículo se trata de revisión bibliográfica que teje consideraciones reflexivas segundo la ocular de varios autores acerca de la asistencia humanizada al parto y nacimiento. En este enfoque, discute, también, la visión de los autores sobre el abordaje biomédica aún desarrollada en varias instituciones hospitalarias brasileñas que asisten mujeres en el período embarazo-puerperal; donde pernean conductas y actitudes consideradas intervencionistas que constituyen un proceso incompatible con las normas de las políticas de salud de la mujer. En esta perspectiva, la humanización de la asistencia al parto y nacimiento fue considerada como esencial en el proceso de cuidar de la parturienta. De ese modo, concebimos que el cuidado en la parturición sea muy importante, debiendo ser internalizado y experienciado por los profesionales de salud del área. Discute, também, a visão dos autores sobre a abordagem biomédica ainda desenvolvida em várias instituições hospitalares brasileiras que prestam assistência às mulheres em período gravídico-puerperal; onde permeiam condutas e atitudes consideradas intervencionistas que constituem um processo incompatível com as normas das políticas de saúde da mulher. Nesta perspectiva, a humanização da assistência ao parto e nascimento foi considerada como essencial no processo de cuidar da parturiente. Desse modo, concebemos que o cuidado na parturição é importante, devendo ser internalizado e vivenciado por profissionais de saúde da área.
