Resumo: ABSTRACT: The hospitalization is not an agreeable experience, being worsened if surgical intervention becomes necessary. When the surgery is suspended, the person is subject to a larger discomfort, which can generate more anguish. The objective of this study was to identify the generating factors of expressed feelings for patients after the surgical cancellation. It is a descriptive research and qualitative approach, accomplished at a public hospital with patients that had their surgeries canceled. Data was collected by interviews which results were submitted to the thematic analysis. The results showed that the generating factors of feelings comes from to the patient's emotions and the operation of institution, being those last ones more frequent. Quando a cirurgia é suspensa, a pessoa está sujeita a um desconforto maior, que pode gerar mais angústia. O objetivo deste estudo foi identificar os fatores geradores de sentimentos expressos por pacientes após o cancelamento cirúrgico. Pesquisa descritiva de abordagem qualitativa, realizada em hospital público com pacientes que tiveram suas cirurgias canceladas, sendo a coleta de dados realizada por entrevistas que foram submetidas à análise temática. Os resultados mostraram que os fatores geradores de sentimentos são relacionados às emoções do paciente e outra ao funcionamento da instituição, sendo esses últimos mais freqüentes.
