Resumo: | Native species are a trend in sustainable landscaping because they require less maintenance, soil and native vegetation preservation, visitation of local fauna, and adaptation to the regional climate. Helicteres sacarolha (Malvaceae), is a native plant of the Cerrado, typical of open cerrado or field-cerrado, with orange to red flowers, hairy leaves and fruit with the size of a cork, but it is still little studied. This work aimed to characterize morphologically, phenologically and to identify the ornamental and landscape potential of this species. The populations are located in the municipalities of Bela Vista de Goiás, Turvânia, Hidrolândia and Itaberaí, GO. The methodology of characterization of the specimens of Helicteres sacarolha was of random walk and ten individuals were chosen in each area to evaluate the species as potential ornamental and landscape use. It was took pictures of all the evaluated specimens. Morphological and esthetic characterizations of the species were made locally, during four seasons of the year (from May / 15 to April / 16). The size of the plant, the color and texture of the leaves and flowers and the number of flower, leaf, green fruit and dried fruit were determined. Regarding the potential ornamental use and landscaping the characteristics were previously chosen considered essential for the purposes of use proposed by Stumpf et al. (2007) and Ramírez-Hernández et al (2012). It was verified that the species has a shrub size, with an average height of 1.42 m, and can reach up to 3 m; And mean diameter at 20 cm above the ground of 7.2 cm. The plant has one to 13 stems per plant, extremely hairy from the ground, emerging new shoots in the spring. The leaves are simple, short-petiolate, hairy on both sides and elliptical in size. The flowers are also hairy, reddish and zygomorphic, and although they have no smell, they are quite attractive in appearance. The peak of flowering occurs in the spring, extending throughout the summer until the beginning of autumn, when fruiting begins. H. sacarolha presents ornamental potential for use in gardens and cutting stems. It is concluded that Helicteres sacarolha presents aesthetically interesting characteristics in all the seasons, such as the coloring and pilosity of the leaves in spring, summer and autumn, the reddish flowers in spring / summer, green fruits and the dry fruits in the winter. Due to the rustic beauty, their stems cut with flowers or with dried fruit can be used in decorative arrangements. The species presents potential to be inserted in the ornamentation and in landscape projects. |

A Helicteres sacarolha A. St.-Hil. Submitted by Luciana Ferreira (lucgeral@gmail.com) on 2019-04-05T14:18:54Z No. of bitstreams: 2 Dissertação - Fernanda Rodrigues dos Santos - 2017.pdf: 1839323 bytes, checksum: ca3f67ee31e69e90e23defeff8fd13c2 (MD5) license_rdf: 0 bytes, checksum: d41d8cd98f00b204e9800998ecf8427e (MD5)Approved for entry into archive by Luciana Ferreira (lucgeral@gmail.com) on 2019-04-05T15:24:21Z (GMT) No. of bitstreams: 2 Dissertação - Fernanda Rodrigues dos Santos - 2017.pdf: 1839323 bytes, checksum: ca3f67ee31e69e90e23defeff8fd13c2 (MD5) license_rdf: 0 bytes, checksum: d41d8cd98f00b204e9800998ecf8427e (MD5)Made available in DSpace on 2019-04-05T15:24:21Z (GMT).
