As vias e o vão: formação territorial e dinâmicas da rede urbana na microrregião Vão do Paranã (GO)

Between the cattle and mining paths in the 18th century, the first settlements emerged in the physiographic area of Vão do Paranã (GO). Close to the border between Goiás and Bahia, the regional formation of the Vão do Paranã reflects the historical processes of articulation and use of the Brazilian territory over time. In this work, we sought to analyze the process of formation of this region in different contexts and scales, from colonization, through the transformations driven by territorial modernization and its productive insertion in the globalized economy of neoliberalism. The methodological procedures were based on bibliographic research, collection of primary and secondary data, mapping and on-site field visits to the investigated locations. The analyzes indicate that, at first, the region figured as a kind of extension of the Bahian corrals and little interacted with the dynamics that occurred in other parts of Goiás. Of the country, that a new socio-spatial arrangement was configured through the BR 020 that positioned the Vão do Paranã on the route between the Brazilian Northeast and the ascendant Centro-Goiano. At the dawn of the 21st century, the consolidation of neoliberal policies radically affected the agricultural production chain in the country and brought important changes in the territorial structure of this region. In the interior of the valley, there was a significant rise in the cattle production chain with an increase in the herd, the implementation of confinements, the opening of stores for agricultural inputs and slaughterhouses. On the other hand, at the limit with the plateaus that form the São Francisco River, the expansion of the agricultural frontier was integrated into the regional urban network to form flow routes, capitalize the workforce and access the urban services of some municipalities located in the Vão do Paranã.
