Resumo: This article is aimed at analyzing the discourse Instruction and Civism, by Higino Cunha (2013), written in 1910, published in the Periodical of the Piauiense Academy of Letters of 1919, ediction which is available in the Project Memória do Jornalismo Piauiense. This is a hemerographic, documental and bibliographic research, which has the following authors to dialogue with the theme: Queiroz (2011), Chartier (1990), Brito (1996), Souza (2008), Capelato   (1988), Nóvoa (2002), Sousa (2020), among others. In the discourse Instruction and Civism, it is possible to carry out a survey of several pillars of Higino Cunha's thought, such as training oriented to patriotism in all areas, importance of investment in education, education as the construction of national unity, preservation of republican ideals, literary cultivation, knowledge as a universal engine, and modern education. Se trata de una investigación hemerográfica, documental y bibliográfica, que tiene como autores para dialogar con el tema Queiroz (2011), Chartier (1990), Brito (1996), Souza (2008), Capelato (1988), Nóvoa (2002), Sousa (2020), entre otros. En el discurso Instrução e civismo, es posible realizar un levantamiento de varios pilares del pensamiento de Higino Cunha, como formación con enfoque en el patriotismo en todos los espacios, importancia de la inversión en la educación, educación como construcción de la unidad nacional, preservación de los ideales republicanos, cultivo literario, conocimiento como motor universal y enseñanza moderna. Higino Cunha.Este artigo tem como objetivo analisar o discurso Instrução e civismo, de Higino Cunha (2013), escrito em 1910, mas publicado na Revista da Academia Piauiense de Letras em 1919, edição que está disponível no Projeto Memória do Jornalismo Piauiense. Trata-se de uma pesquisa hemerográfica, documental e bibliográfica, que tem como autores para dialogar com o tema Queiroz (2011), Chartier (1990), Brito (1996), Souza (2008), Capelato (1988), Nóvoa (2002), Sousa (2020), entre outros.
