Resumo: This essay aimed to describe and characterize the theoretical basis of body concepts in Physical Education (PE) and its relations with human health. The material explored indicated that the concepts are appropriated from classical works, branching out and representing divergent theoretical approaches that influence knowledge, know-how, and practices in Physical Education. It was evidenced fundamental aspects that demonstrate the theoretical conceptual advance in the field that historically starts to consider concepts based on the interconnection between the natural and the social in detriment of the biomedical and hegemonic exclusivity. The concept of body practices has been fundamental to build humanized and critical interventions with subjects and communities when considering human health care.

El material explorado indicó que los conceptos se apropian de obras clásicas, ramificándose y representando enfoques teóricos divergentes que influyen en el conocimiento, el saber hacer y las prácticas en Educación Física. Se evidenciaron aspectos fundamentales que demuestran el avance teórico conceptual en el campo que históricamente comienza a considerar conceptos basados en la interconexión entre lo natural y lo social en lugar de la exclusividad hegemónica y biomédica. El concepto de prácticas corporales ha sido fundamental para construir intervenciones humanizadas y críticas con los individuos y las comunidades, al considerar el cuidado de la salud humana.O presente ensaio objetivou descrever e caracterizar as bases teóricas sobre os conceitos de corpo operadas no campo da Educação Física (EF) e suas relações com a saúde humana. O material explorado indicou que os conceitos são apropriados de obras clássicas, se ramificam e representam abordagens teóricas divergentes que influenciam nos conhecimentos, saberes e práticas da EF. Ficou evidenciado aspectos fundamentais que demonstram o avanço teórico conceitual no campo que passa, historicamente, a considerar conceitos fundados na interconexão entre o natural e o social em detrimento da exclusividade biomédica e hegemônica.
