Resumo: The study analyzed the perception of the multidisciplinary team about the work of the Physical Education professional in a psychiatric hospitalization unit. The results suggest that the other professionals identify the performance of the physical educator in the psychiatric hospitalization, but they point out difficulties to understand the work of these professionals and their functions with the patients . It was concluded, then, that the work of the Physical Education professional is recognized and considered important by the other professionals involved in psychiatric hospitalization.

En el caso de los profesionales de la salud, los resultados sugieren que los demás profesionales identifican la actuación del educador físico en la internación psiquiátrica, pero apuntan dificultades para entender el trabajo de estos profesionales y sus funciones con los pacientes . Se concluyó, entonces, que el trabajo del profesional de Educación Física es reconocido y considerado importante por los demás profesionales actuantes en la internación psiquiátrica.O estudo analisou a percepção da equipe multidisciplinar sobre o trabalho do profissional de Educação Física em uma unidade de internação psiquiátrica. De abordagem qualitativa, com entrevistas realizadas com 09 trabalhadores de diferentes categorias profissionais da internação psiquiátrica, os resultados sugerem que os demais profissionais identificam a atuação do educador físico na internação psiquiátrica, porém apontam dificuldades para entender o trabalho destes profissionais e suas funções com os pacientes.
