THE FAMILY IS PART OF THE TEAM: EXPANDING THE DIALOGUE ABOUT THE PRESENCE OF PARENTS IN SPORTS

Resumo: The presence of parents in sporting environments is pointed out as having a significant influence on the sport participation of their children. However, more than "just" influencing their children throughout their trajectory, parents need to deal with sport-specific demands that, at the same time, directly affect the way they choose to offer parental support. Although the international investigative agenda offers contributions on parental involvement, evidence is still unwell systematized in the national sport research scenario. In light of these aspects, the aim was to present who parents in sport are from the Sport Parenting lens, evidencing an integrated understanding of the sport system and its consequent mutual influence among individuals.

Sin embargo, más que "sólo" influir en sus hijos a lo largo de su trayectoria, los padres tienen que hacer frente a las exigencias específicas del deporte que, al mismo tiempo, influyen directamente en la forma en que deciden ofrecer apoyo parental. Si bien la agenda de investigación internacional ofrece aportes sobre la participación de los padres, la evidencia está aún poco sistematizada en el escenario de la investigación deportiva nacional. Teniendo en cuenta lo anterior, el objetivo era presentar quiénes son los padres en el deporte desde el punto de vista del Sport Parenting, destacando una comprensión integrada del sistema deportivo y su consecuente influencia mutua entre los individuos.A presença dos pais em ambientes esportivos é apontada como de grande influência na participação esportiva dos filhos. Contudo, mais do que “apenas” influenciar a trajetória dos filhos, os pais precisam lidar com demandas específicas do esporte que, ao mesmo tempo, influenciam diretamente a maneira como eles oferecem suporte. Embora a agenda investigativa internacional ofereça contribuições sobre o envolvimento parental, as evidências ainda são pouco sistematizadas no cenário de investigação esportiva nacional.
