Resumo: This study aimed to verify if there were differences in the distribution of time in school physical education classes in a group of 7th grade and in classes of an extracurricular physical activity program. Sixteen lessons were videotaped in each group and analyzed in terms of active learning time; not engaged time, instructional time, administration time and waiting time. There were no differences in the categories not engaged time, instruction time and administration time. There were found differences in the categories active learning time and waiting time, with greater use of active learning time in the physical education classes at school and a greater demand for waiting time at extracurricular physical activity classes. Physical Education Classes.  Extracurricular Physical Activity.El objetivo de este estudio fue determinar si había diferencias en la distribución del tiempo en las clases de educación física escolar de un grupo de 7 º grado de una escuela pública (Grupo 1, integrado por 36 alumnos) y en las clases de fútbol en un programa de actividad física extraescolar (Grupo 2, formado por 18 estudiantes). En los dos grupos, los sujetos eran varones, con edades comprendidas entre 13 y 14 años. El tiempo total para cada clase en el grupo 1 fue de 45 minutos y en el Grupo 2, de 50 minutos. 16 lecciones fueron grabadas en cada grupo, que fueron analizadas por medio de software de codificación del tiempo de aprendizaje activo, del tiempo de actividad sin aprendizaje, del tiempo de instrucción, del tiempo de administración y del tiempo de espera. Los registros de los códigos se hicieron cada 30 segundos, teniendo en cuenta que la mayoría de los estudiantes (mínimo de 51%) estaba haciendo. Los resultados no mostraron diferencias entre los dos grupos en las categorías tiempo de actividad sin aprendizaje, tiempo de instrucción y tiempo de administración. Ya en las categorías de tiempo de aprendizaje activo y el tiempo de espera se observaron diferencias, aunque pequeñas. Hubo un mayor uso de tiempo de aprendizaje activo en las clases de educación física y ya espera en clases extraescolares de actividad física. Palabras clave: Distribución del Tiempo. Actividad Física Extracurricular.O objetivo do presente estudo foi verificar se havia diferença na distribuição do tempo nas aulas de Educação Física escolar de uma turma de 7ª série da rede pública estadual (Grupo 1, formado por 36 alunos) e nas aulas de uma turma de futsal da categoria infantil em um programa de atividade física extraclasse (Grupo 2, formado por 18 alunos). Em ambos os grupos, os sujeitos eram do sexo masculino, com idades entre 13 e 14 anos. O tempo total de cada aula no Grupo 1 era de 45 minutos e no Grupo 2, de 50 minutos. Foram filmadas 16 aulas em cada grupo, as quais foram analisadas por meio de um software de codificação quanto ao tempo de aprendizagem ativa, tempo não engajado, tempo de instrução, tempo de administração e tempo de espera. Os registros dos códigos eram feitos a cada 30 segundos, levando em conta o que a maioria dos alunos (51%, no mínimo) estava fazendo. Os resultados não evidenciaram diferenças entre os dois grupos nas categorias tempo não engajado, tempo de instrução e tempo de administração. Já nas categorias tempo de aprendizagem ativa e tempo de espera houve diferenças, embora pequenas.
