ENVIRONMENTAL MONITORING ON COASTAL DUNES IN THE SOUTH COAST-LINE OF SERGIPE FROM BIOPHYSICAL VULNERABILITY GEOINDICATORS

Resumo: This article shows biophysical vulnerability geoindicators for coastal dunes developed from environmental monitoring of dune systems in the south coast of Sergipe, Brazil. The elaboration of control field lists (field checklists) in order to evaluate the conditions which produce an acceleration of the pace of coastal dunes deterioration in Sergipe is defined as main methodological tool. Geoindicators present rapid biophysical changes in the coastal dunes and contribute for an effective evaluation of impacts of the natural conditions and of the sensitivity resulting of the anthropogenic derivations in the dune environments. It is concluded that the biophysical vulnerability geoindicators can improve the environmental monitoring through a continuous evaluation methodology with reduced costs for adoption of conservation strategies of coastal zone territorial protected spaces, mainly in development countries such as Brazil. La elaboración de listas de control de campo (field checklists) con objetivo de evaluar las condiciones en las que se producen una aceleración del ritmo de degradación de dunas costera en Sergipe se ha definido como instrumento metodológico principal. Los geoindicadores presentan cambios biofísicos rápidos en las dunas costeras y contribuyen para una efectiva evaluación de impactos de las condiciones naturales y de la sensibilidad resultante de las derivaciones antrópicas en los ambientes de dunas. Como conclusión se puede decir que los geoindicadores de vulnerabilidad biofísica pueden mejorar la vigilancia y control ambiental por medio de una metodología de evaluación continua a costes reducidos para la adopción de estrategias de conservación de los espacios territoriales protegidos de la zona costera, principalmente en países en desarrollo como es el caso de Brasil. Os geoindicadores apresentam mudanças biofísicas rápidas nas dunas costeiras e contribuem para uma efetiva avaliação de impactos das condições naturais e da sensibilidade resultantes das derivações antropogênicas nos ambientes dunares. Conclui-se que os geoindicadores de vulnerabilidade biofísica podem melhorar o monitoramento ambiental mediante uma metodologia de avaliação contínua e com custos reduzidos para adoção de estratégias de conservação dos espaços territoriais protegidos da zona costeira, principalmente em países em desenvolvimento como o Brasil.
