Resumo: This essay discusses the concept and category Sacred Space. To this end, we addressed some questions about the subdiscipline Geography of Religion and its current constitution in Brazil. We demonstrate that the dynamics of this field in the geographical context of Brazil has undergone two different theoretical tendencies, evident in their different designs of sacred space. In this sense, our interest is to validate the Sacred Space category understood as symbolic conformation.

Para ello, se refirió a algunas preguntas acerca de la especialidad de Geografía de la Religión y su actual Constitución en el Brasil. Se demuestra que la dinámica de este campo en elcontexto geográfico de Brasil ha sido objeto de dos diferentes tendencias teóricas, evidente en sus diferentes diseños de espacio sagrado. En este sentido, nuestro interés es la validación de la categoría de Espacio Sagrado entendida como conformaciónsimbólica.O presente artigo visa discutir a noção e categoria Espaço Sagrado. Para tanto, abordamos algumas questões sobre a subdisciplina Geografia da Religião e sua constituição atual no Brasil. Procuramos demonstrar que a dinâmica desse campogeográfico no contexto brasileiro passa por duas tendências teóricas distintas; em suas diferentes concepções de espaço sagrado.
