Mekaron Nhyrunkwa: recognition of the Mebêbgôkre cultural territory from the 1907 Gol flight accident

Resumo: The territory conception was developed through the history of geographic thought thus becoming one of its most important analytical tools. In this sense, using this conception plays a crucial role regarding the comprehension of current issues such as the struggle for social rights and conflicts, derived from the clashes of different forms of power. Considering that the results of Gol 1907 flight accident unsettled some matters which have a cultural stamp for the Mebêngôkre indigenous people, in this paper it was shown how does the recognition of rights and immaterial damage compensation had become an achievement for its people and, in extension, for other ethnic groups, becoming a landmark for the indigenous struggle in Brazil. Compensation.El concepto de territorio se desarrolló a lo largo de la historia de lo pensamiento geográfico como una de sus herramientas analíticas más importantes. Así, su uso tiene un papel importante en la comprensión de temas de actualidad, como la lucha por los derechos y los conflictos sociales, derivados de los enfrentamientos entre diferentes formas de poder. En este trabajo, demostramos cómo el reconocimiento del derecho a indemnización por daños inmateriales de carácter cultural para el pueblo indígena Mebêngôkre, derivado del accidente con el avión Gol 1907, se convirtió en un logro para su pueblo y, en extensión, para otros grupos étnicos, importante evento para la lucha indígena en Brasil. Compensación.O conceito de território se desenvolveu através da história do pensamento geográfico como uma de suas ferramentas analíticas mais importantes. Nesse sentido seu uso exerce importante papel para compreensão de questões atuais, como a luta por direitos e conflitos sociais, derivadas de embates de diferentes formas de poder. Nesse trabalho, demonstramos como o reconhecimento do direito a compensações por danos imateriais de cunho cultural para os indígenas Mebêngôkre, derivadas do acidente com o voo Gol 1907, transformou-se em uma conquista para seu povo e, em extensão, para outras etnias, tornando-se um marco para a luta indígena no Brasil.
