Resumo: The main purpose of this paper is to discuss the relationships that the traditional populations, specially the Kalunga community, have established among themselves, their territory and the survival strategies that govern their lives. It seeks to recreate their historical path by taking into consideration the dimension of their traditional knowledge and to reframe their current knowledge related to the cerrado biodiversity in the northeast of Goias. The aim is also to understand how the capitalist way of production has resized their form of appropriation and use of such resources for marketing purposes. Therefore, the eminence of modern biotechnology appears as a decisive factor for environmental capital appreciation. The issue at hand was supported by exploratory field work in the place of study.

The issue at hand was supported by exploratory field work in the place of study.Este trabajo tiene como principal objetivo discutir las relaciones que las poblaciones tradicionales, sobretodo las comunidades Kalunga, establecen entre sí con su territorio y con las estrategias de supervivencia que rigen sus vidas. Este estudio busca reconstruir su trayectoria histórica, considerando la dimensión de sus conocimientos tradicionales, así como reestructurar sus conocimientos actuales relacionados con la biodiversidad del cerrado en el nordeste de Goiás. El objetivo es también comprender la forma por la cual el modo de producción capitalista ha redimensionado el uso y la apropiación de esos recursos para fines de marketing. Por lo tanto, la eminencia de la biotecnología moderna aparece como un factor decisivo para la revaloración del capital ambiental. La problemática abordada se apoya en exploraciones realizadas en el trabajo de campo.Este artigo tem como principal propósito discutir as relações que as populações tradicionais, no caso específico as comunidades kalunga, estabelecem entre si, com seu território e as estratégias de sobrevivência que regulamentam suas vidas. Procura-se reconstruir sua trajetória histórica, considerando a dimensão de seus conhecimentos tradicionais, bem como a atual significação de seus saberes na relação com a biodiversidade do cerrado no nordeste goiano. Busca-se, ainda, entender o modo pelo qual o capitalismo vem redimensionando a forma de apropriação e uso dos ditos recursos com propósitos mercadológicos. Para tanto, a eminência da biotecnologia moderna aparece como fator decisivo para revalorização do capital ambiental.
