MATHEMATICAL APPROACH APPLIED TO SUGARCANE HARVESTING WITH EMPHASIS ON MAXIMIZATION OF SUGAR RECOVERY

Resumo: | Using a mathematical program, a simulation of sugarcane harvesting was carried out in a Brazilian sugarmill in the 1998/ 1999 growing season. Results showed the possibility feasibility to obtain a 6.5% gain on sugar recovery per area in comparison with traditional planning, consisting on personal judgement of factors as sugarcane age, sugar content, variety maturation curve and others. The overall field planning also allows for personal intervinience for promoting necessary adaptations and simulations in the growing areas, as well as other sugarcane field management problems. The variable which is maximized is the sugar production per harvested area, that is, the interaction of sugarcane productivity t.ha-1) and sugar content (Pol%Cane), throughout the harvesting eason. The fields were preferentially selected for harvesting according more to the sugarcane growing potential than sugar ontent. KEY-WORDS: Mathematical program; sugarmill; sucrose optimization. |

Uma simulação da colheita de cana-de-açúcar, com a ajuda de programação matemática, foi realizada em uma usina de açúcar brasileira, na safra de 1998/1999. Os resultados mostraram a possibilidade de obtenção de 6,5% de ganho no açúcar recuperado do campo, em comparação ao planejamento tradicional, que consiste de um julgamento pessoal de fatores como idade da cana, teor de açúcar, curva de maturação da variedade e outros. O planejamento do corte dos talhões também permite a intervenção pessoal para promover adaptações necessárias e simulações para definição de reforma de talhões, áreas de plantio e outros problemas de manejo da lavoura de cana-de-açúcar. A variável maximizada é a produção de açúcar por área colhida, ou seja, a interação da produtividade de cana-de-açúcar (t.ha-1) e teor de açúcar (Pol%Cana), no decorrer de toda a colheita. Os talhões foram selecionados para corte muito mais de acordo com o potencial de crescimento da cana-de-açúcar do que pelo teor de açúcar.
