Resumo: The present study was carried out on farms of the Jalles Machado, S/A Açúcar e Álcool, a factory established in Goianésia, Goiás state. In order to obtain technical support for programs of recovering border forests and areas of permanent preservation, survival and development of trees were evaluated. At intervals of two months and a half, heigth and diameter of the stem just above the ground were measured on trees planted in 32 plots of modified environment, 400 m2 each. The results showed high mortality rate of some species less adapted to the environment and good development of others. Therefore planning should include a better choice of tree species well adapted to the environment where they are to be planted. KEY-WORDS: Disturbed lands; gallery forest; environmental.

O presente trabalho foi realizado em propriedades rurais da empresa Jalles Machado, S/A Açúcar e Álcool, em Goianésia (GO). Com o objetivo de obter subsídios técnicos para orientar programas de recomposição de matas ciliares e de áreas de preservação permanente, foram avaliados a sobrevivência e o desenvolvimento, quanto à altura e o diâmetro do colo, de espécies de plantas arbóreas nativas e exóticas, conduzidas em ambientes antropizados, com características peculiares. Os dados foram registrados em intervalos de dois meses e meio, diretamente dos indivíduos plotados em 32 áreas amostrais de 400 m2 cada. Os resultados indicaram porcentagens de mortalidade de plantas superiores a 30% para as espécies açaí, barriguda, guapeva, mutamba, abacate, pau-d’óleo, açoita-cavalo, bálsamo, cedro, mogno, chichá, conde e caraíba, menos adaptadas a determinadas situações ambientais. As espécies goiabeira, sangra-d’água, gameleirinha, jamelão, tamboril-da-mata, ipê-amarelo-do-cerrado, ipê-roxo e monjoleiro apresentaram o melhor desempenho em altura e diâmetro, nas áreas amostradas cujas características ambientais se aproximavam daquelas exigidas por essas espécies. Como conclusão sugere-se um melhor planejamento quando da seleção das espécies a serem plantadas, procurando distribuí-las segundo sua aptidão natural.
