Resumo: Searching for production alternatives for small farmers, Goyaz Group -Teaching, Research and Extension has been working with Serra Abaixo Small Farmers Association (APASA), in Inhumas, Goiás State. Data were collected through questionnaires during the corn (Zea mays L.) crop growing period, in the farmer areas, making up 33,370 m2, from August 8 to October 18, 1996, under animal traction no-tillage. The objectives were to determine operational costs, gross income, manpower and capital utilization indexes, and to develop the economic-financial analysis of the green corn crop under farm conditions. All participating farmers achieved positive financial results as expressed by gross margin, which varied individually from R$319.89 to R$1,760.67, while the average gross margin was R$ 901.02. Under the experimental conditions the most adequate period to plant animal traction no-tillage corn is August, secondarily extended through mid September. Entendendo a necessidade de se buscarem novas alternativas de produção para o pequeno produtor rural, os componentes do Grupo Goyaz - Ensino, Pesquisa e Extensão vêm desenvolvendo trabalhos junto à Associação de Pequenos Agricultores do Serra Abaixo (APASA), no município de Inhumas (GO). Nesta pesquisa, utilizou-se de dados coletados através de questionários sobre o desenvolvimento da cultura do milho verde (Zea rnays L.) semeado pelos agricultores em dez diferentes áreas, totalizando 33.370 m², no período de 10/08/1996 a 18/10/1996, em sistema de plantio direto-tração animal. O principais objetivos da pesquisa foram determinar o custo operacional, a renda bruta, os índices de utilização da mão-de-obra e capital e desenvolver a análise econômico-financeira dos resultados obtidos para a cultura do milho verde, sob as condições de campo. Todos os agricultores obtiveram resultados financeiros positivos expressos na margem bruta/ha, que variou individualmente de cerca de 3 a 15 salários mínimos para o período de 100 dias. Com relação à renda esperada e ao custo operacional, obteve-se um parâmetro médio de 2,56 vezes.
