Resumo: Personal and social characteristics of the cotton planters in the Triangle Region of Minas Gerais state and their behavior in relation to the adoption of innovations were analyzed in this study. The conceptual model adopted was derived from ROGERS and SHOEMAKER’s (1971) model of individual adoption. The survey method was used to obtain the data through pre-tested questionnaries. One hundred and fifty-five producers were interviewed during the month of July, 1972. When using the simple correlation and chi-square analysis, a positive and significant association between adoptability and the following personal and social characteristics: Empathy, cosmopolitism, economic potential, utilization of educational rural credit, and contact with change agents, was found. Using the multiple correlation technique, six characteristics which when combined offer the highest degree of association with adoptability, were determined; these are: cosmopolitism, use of educational rural credit, economic potential, production efficiency, a sharecropper system, and empathy.

Using the multiple correlation technique, six characteristics which when combined offer the highest degree of association with adoptability, were determined; these are: cosmopolitism, use of educational rural credit, economic potential, production efficiency, a sharecropper system, and empathy. Escola de Agronomia - Universidade Federal de Goiás2007-10-30info:eu-repo/semantics/articleinfo:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersionAvaliado por paresapplication/pdfhttps://revistas.ufg.br/pat/article/view/2233Pesquisa Agropecuária Tropical [Agricultural Research in the Tropics]; v. 6, n. 1, Jan./Dec. 1976; 2-38Pesquisa Agropecuária Tropical (Agricultural Research in the Tropics); v. 6, n. 1, jan./dez. 1976; 2-38Pesquisa Agropecuária Tropical; v. 6, n. 1, jan./dez. 1976; 2-381983-4063reponame:Pesquisa Agropecuária Tropical (Online)instname:Universidade Federal de Goiás (UFG)instacron:UFGporhttps://revistas.ufg.br/pat/article/view/2233/2188Quiroga, Gabriel CanedoAndreotti, Carlos M.Ribon, MiguelPulschen, Rolf EduardoMachado Filho, Franciscoinfo:eu-repo/semantics/openAccess2020-02-26T23:49:09Zoai:ojs.revistas.ufg.br:article/2233Revistahttps://revistas.ufg.br/patPUBhttps://revistas.ufg.br/pat/oaiaseleguini.pat@gmail.com||mgoes@agro.ufg.br1983-40631517-6398opendoar:2024-05-21T19:54:59.378199Pesquisa Agropecuária Tropical (Online) - Universidade Federal de Goiás (UFG)true
