Resumo: The mite Potyghagotarsonemus latus (Banks, 1904) is known as an important pest of cotton plant in many regions in Brazil. In order to determine the efficiency of the acaracide pyridathioben to control the tropical mite, a field experiment, was carried out in Santa Helena, State of Goiás, Brazil. The treatments and dosage of the products per hectare were: pyridathioben (1.7 1; 2.5 1 and 3.4), omite (1.5 1) and cascade (0.6 1). Evaluations were made at 3, 8, 14 and 24 days after treatment sampling 5 leaves with symptoms in each repetition and counting number of mites found at an area of 0.7 cm2. The results showed that pyridatioben was the best acaricide showing a control efficiency of about 90%, at smaller dosage, until 24 days after treatment applications.

O ácaro branco Polyphagotarsonemus latus (Banks, 1904), é reconhecido como praga importante do algodoeiro em muitas regiões do Brasil. Com o objetivo de se determinar a eficiência do acaricida pyridathioben contra o ácaro branco na cultura do algodoeiro, foi instalado o experimento em Santa Helena, Goiás. Os tratamentos utilizados foram pyridathioben em três dosagens (1,7 l/ha; 2,5 l/ha e 3,4 l/ha), omite (1,5 l/ha) e cascada (0,6 l/ha). As aplicações foram efetuadas com um pulverizador costal manual Jacto, gastando-se 300 litros de calda por hectare. As avaliações foram realizadas aos 3, 8, 14 e 24 dias após a aplicação, colhendo-se 5 folhas, com sintomas, por parcela e contando-se o número de ácaro numa área de 0,7 cm² por folha.
