The Official and parallel toponymy in the naming of squares in Cuiabá/MT

Resumo: This work discusses the results of a study on the official and parallel toponyms of 65 squares in Cuiabá/MT, located in the oldest region of the city, in terms of taxonomy, morphological structure and language of origin (DICK, 1990, 1992). The study points out that the official toponymy of the squares is essentially composed of anthropotoponyms and axiotoponyms with 80.95% of records, which reveals influences of political, military, religious and economic forces in the denomination, while the parallel toponymy does not show significant highlights, since, of the 65 toponyms analyzed, 53.30% have parallel toponyms distributed in 14 taxonomic categories, with sociotoponyms being the most productive taxe (26.47%).

El estudio señala que la toponimia oficial de las plazas está compuesta esencialmente por antropotopónimos y axiotopónimos con un 80,95% de registros, lo que revela influencias de fuerzas políticas, militares, religiosas y económicas en la denominación, mientras que la toponimia paralela no presenta destaques significativos, ya que , de los 65 topónimos analizados, el 53,30% tiene topónimos paralelos distribuidos en 14 categorías taxonómicas, siendo los sociotopónimos el impuesto más productivo (26,47%).Este trabalho discute resultados de um estudo sobre as toponímias oficial e paralela de 65 praças de Cuiabá/MT, localizadas na região mais antiga da cidade, quanto à taxionomia, estrutura morfológica e língua de origem (DICK, 1990, 1992).
