Resumo: The current critics generally agree that Tempo e Eternidade is a transitional book on the poetics of Jorge de Lima. It is possible to perceive some elements characteristic to the late poetry of the alagoano poet, for example: their religious concern linked to his artistic creation process, the use of complex images, as well as the design of the poet’s figure related to the demiurge. In this text, we intend to study Tempo e Eternidade as the starting point of the poetics of Jorge de Lima to search for his utopian island, from the original time.

En él es posible notar algunos elementos característicos de la poesía final del poeta alagoano, como por ejemplo: su preocupación religiosa conectada a su proceso de creación artística, la densificación de la construcción metafórica a través de imágenes complejas,  así  como  la  concepción  de  la  figura  del  poeta  relacionada  al demiurgo. En este texto, nos pretendemos estudiar Tempo e Eternidade como punto de partida de la poética de Jorge de Lima para buscar su isla utópica, el tiempo original.A  crítica  atual,  em  geral,  concorda  que  Tempo  e  Eternidade  é  um  livro  de transição  na  poética  de  Jorge  de  Lima.  Nele,  é  possível  perceber  alguns elementos  característicos  da  poesia  final  do  poeta  alagoano,  como,  por exemplo, sua preocupação religiosa ligada ao seu processo de criação artística, o  adensamento  da  construção  metafórica  por  meio  de  imagens  complexas, assim como, a concepção da figura do poeta relacionada ao demiurgo.
