Resumo:   In this article, we will analyze Nora Webster (2014) by ColmTóibín. This novel tells the story of the protagonist’s journey towardsrestructuring her life with her children after the death of her husband. We propose to examine how the transformations experienced by Noraare influenced by the historical-social context in which she finds herselfand how this affects her family unit and her identity. We understand thatthis work can be analyzed from the perspective of “portability”. This termwas first employed by Costello-Sullivan (2012) to discuss the culturalportability existing in Brooklyn (2011), another novel by Tóibín.
