Resumo: In this article, by using in a more accurate way an episode of the kidnapping ofa family and the discursive practices of two radio stations that covered theevent as well as some short news casts, it is possible to point out some attitudesthe media demonstrates such as the self-compliment, the putting-down of thecompetition and the search for hegemony inside in its discursive field. Themedia do not hesitate in self promotion even when lives are at risk.
