Environmental analysis of the Ribeirão Bonito watershed: a morphometric and land use and coverage approach

Resumo: | The analysis of natural dynamics and anthropogenic activities in watersheds are important for predicting future scenarios and supporting the management and planning of these territorial units. This study aimed to assess the morphometric parameters related to the geometric, relief and drainage network characteristics, as well as the use and coverage of the lands of the Ribeirão Bonito watershed, located in the municipalities of Avaré and Itatinga, in the state of São Paulo, Brazil, by means of geotechnologies. The morphometric characteristics of the watershed exhibit a natural dynamic that is indicative of low flood probability. The drainage network has a fluvial hierarchy of five orders, although its drainage density is low, mainly due to the predominantly flat relief and smooth slopes. The aforementioned watershed has low forest coverage (7.17%) and the Permanent Preservation Areas (APPs) require recovery measures, as only 45.73% of them are preserved, but the coverages present are favorable to the infiltration of water and, if handled correctly, make the area important for the protection of soils and the maintenance of the permanence of the water resources. |

El presente trabajo tuvo el fin de evaluar los parámetros morfométricos referentes a las características geométricas, de relieve y de la red de drenaje, y el uso y cobertura de las tierras de la subcuenca hidrográfica de Ribeirão Bonito, ubicada en los municipios de Avaré e Itatinga, en el Estado de São Paulo, por medio de la utilización de geotecnología. Las características morfométricas de la subcuenca hidrográfica muestran una dinámica natural indicativa de baja probabilidad de inundaciones. La red de drenaje tiene una jerarquía fluvial de cinco órdenes, pero su densidad de drenaje es baja, sobre todo debido al relieve predominantemente plano y declives suaves. La referida subcuenca tiene baja cobertura forestal (7,17 %) y las Áreas de Preservación Permanente – APP’s necesitan medidas de recuperación, ya que solo el 45,73 % de ellas están preservadas, pero las coberturas presentes son favorables a la infiltración del agua y, si son manejadas correctamente, hacen al área importante para la protección de los suelos y el mantenimiento de la sostenibilidad de los recursos hídricos.A análise das dinâmicas naturais e das atuações antrópicas nas bacias hidrográficas são importantes para prever cenários futuros e subsidiar a gestão e o planejamento dessas unidades territoriais. O presente trabalho objetivou avaliar os parâmetros morfométricos referentes às características geométricas, de relevo e da rede de drenagem, e o uso e cobertura das terras da sub-bacia hidrográfica do Ribeirão Bonito, localizada nos municípios de Avaré e Itatinga, no estado de São Paulo, por meio da utilização das geotecnologias. As características morfométricas da sub-bacia hidrográfica exibem uma dinâmica natural indicativa de baixa probabilidade de enchentes. A rede de drenagem possui uma hierarquia fluvial de cinco ordens, mas sua densidade de drenagem é baixa, sobretudo devido ao relevo predominantemente plano e declives suaves.
