Resumo: The purpose of this article is to analyze the relationship between Brazil and Bolivia throughout the twentieth and twenty-first centuries. Strong ties among the cities that compose the Brazil/Bolivia border area, located respectively in the state of Mato Grosso do Sul and Santa Cruz Department, were produced as a result of the narrowings between the two countries. We demonstrate how the geopolitical practices (associated to the transportation sector) of these States approached the people of the border region in question.

La relación histórica entre los dos países produce fuertes lazos entre ciudades situadas actualmente en la zona del Brasil / Bolivia, respectivamente, ubicada en el estado de Mato Grosso do Sul y en el Departamento de Santa Cruz. Demostramos cómo las prácticas geopolíticas (relacionadas con el sector del transporte) de dichos Estados se acercaron a los habitantes de la región fronteriza en cuestión.Este artigo tem como objetivo analisar algumas das nuances do relacionamento entre Brasil e Bolívia ao longo do século XIX e XX. Seus estreitamentos produziram fortes vínculos entres as cidades que compõem a Zona de Fronteira Brasil/Bolívia, localizada respectivamente no estado de Mato Grosso do Sul e no Departamento de Santa Cruz.
