Environmental fragility as a environmental planning instrument in Conservation Units: the case of APA Serra da Piedade – MG

Resumo: This study aimed to determine the environmental fragility of the Serra da Piedade Environmental Protection Area (APA), in the municipality of Visconde do Rio Branco, Minas Gerais, located in the Zona da Mata region of Minas Gerais. To determine the fragility of the area, the study had as theoretical basis the conception of Geosystems, Ecodynamics and Ecogeography, from the studies of Sotchava, Tricart and Bertrand. The methodological basis of the work consisted of a multicriterial analysis based on the work of Ross (1994), Crepani et al. (2001) and weighted the Slope, Geomorphology, Precipitation variables with the Land Use classification. Through the data collected from these environmental variables, the model integrates the criteria by their simple sum, with each class of each variable taking a specific value to its vulnerability to fragility. The result generated the Potential Fragility Map (MFP) with the variables, Slope, Geomorphology and Precipitation and, the Emerging Fragility Map (MFE) from the overlay of the Potential Fragility map (MFP) and the thematic use map and land occupation. The models produced in the study generated important information for the environmental and territorial planning of the Serra da Piedade Environmental Protection Area, as well as for other related areas, also enabling the creation of an accessible, easy-to-apply zoning, which generates an effective tool for the monitoring of environmental fragility.

Para determinar la fragilidad del área, el estudio tuvo como base teórica la concepción de Geosistemas, Ecodinámica y Ecogeografía, a partir de los estudios de Sotchava, Tricart y Bertrand. La base metodológica del trabajo consistió en un análisis multicriterial basado basado en las obras de Ross (1994), Crepani et al. (2001) y ponderaron las variables Pendiente, Geomorfología y Precipitación con la clasificación de Uso del Suelo. A través de los datos recolectados de estas variables ambientales, el modelo integra los criterios por su simple suma, con cada clase de cada variable tomando un valor específico a su vulnerabilidad a la fragilidad. El resultado generó el Mapa de Fragilidad Potencial (MFP) con las variables Talud, Geomorfología y Precipitación y, por tanto, el Mapa de Fragilidad Emergente (MFE) a partir de la superposición del mapa de Fragilidad Potencial (MFP) y el mapa de uso temático y ocupación del suelo. Los modelos producidos en el trabajo generaron información importante para la planificación ambiental y territorial del Área de Protección Ambiental de la Serra da Piedade, así como para otras áreas relacionadas, permitiendo también la creación de una zonificación accesible y de fácil aplicación, que genera una herramienta eficaz para el seguimiento de la fragilidad ambiental.O presente trabalho objetivou determinar a fragilidade ambiental da Área de Proteção Ambiental (APA) Serra da Piedade, no Município de Visconde do Rio Branco, Minas Gerais, situado na Zona da Mata mineira. Para determinação da fragilidade ambiental da área, o estudo teve como embasamento teórico a concepção de Geossistemas, Ecodinâmicas e de Ecogeografia, dos estudos de Sotchava, Tricart e Bertrand. A base metodológica do trabalho consistiu em uma análise multicriterial fundamentada nos trabalhos de Ross (1994), Crepani et al. (2001) e ponderou as variáveis de Declividade, Geomorfologia e Precipitação junto a classificação do Uso da Terra. Através dos dados coletados dessas variáveis ambientais o modelo faz a integração dos critérios pela sua soma simples, com cada classe de cada variável tomando um valor específico a sua vulnerabilidade a fragilidade. O resultado gerou o Mapa de Fragilidade Potencial (MFP) com as variáveis, Declividade, Geomorfologia e Precipitação e, por conseguinte o Mapa de Fragilidade Emergente (MFE) a partir da sobreposição do mapa de Fragilidade Potencial (MFP) e do mapa temático de uso e ocupação da terra.
