Diagnosis of the spatial distribution of the intensity of Surface heat islands and vegetation in President Prudente - SP/Brazil

Resumo: The present work aims to diagnose and analyze the spatial distribution of the intensity of surface heat islands in Presidente Prudente - SP, considering the characteristics of the different land cover uses and types of surfaces, as well as the active atmospheric systems during the 30 days that preceded the collection of the satellite images. The treatment of satellite images led to the production of two thermal maps and two NDVI (Normalized Differential Vegetation Index) maps, one representative of the dry season (07/15/2017) and the other of the rainy season (01/23/2018). Surface heat islands were only clearly identified during the rainy period. During the dry period there was a certain homogenization of temperature differences of the targets between rural and urban areas. The reduction of water in the system decreases the photosynthetic activity. The grasses dry up and the exposed soil results in higher surface temperatures, that are similar to those of the built-up areas. During the rainy period, because of the relatively greater vegetation development, the temperatures of surfaces in rural areas decrease, evidencing the higher intensities of the urban heat islands.

During the rainy period, because of the relatively greater vegetation development, the temperatures of surfaces in rural areas decrease, evidencing the higher intensities of the urban heat islands.Le présent travail vise à diagnostiquer et analyser la distribution spatiale de l'intensité des îlots de chaleur de surface à Presidente Prudente - SP, en tenant compte des caractéristiques des différents types d'occupation du sol et des différentes surfaces, ainsi que des systèmes atmosphériques actifs dans les 30 jours qui ont précédé la prise des images satellites. Le traitement des images satellitaires a abouti à la production de deux cartes thermiques et deux cartes NDVI (Normalized Differential Vegetation Index), l'une représentative de la saison sèche (15/07/2017) et l'autre de la saison des pluies (23/01/2018). Les résultats ont montré que des îlots de chaleur de surface pouvaient être identifiés en période pluvieuse. En période sèche, il y a eu une certaine homogénéisation des différences de températures des cibles entre les zones rurales et urbaines. La réduction de l'eau dans le système diminue l'activité photosynthétique. Les herbes se dessèchent et le sol exposé contribue à l’augmentation de la température de la surface, réduisant les différences avec les températures des zones bâties. La période de pluies connaît un développement plus élevé du couvert végétal, par conséquent, la température des surfaces dans la zone rurale diminue, mettant en évidence les intensités plus élevées des îlots de chaleur urbains.O presente trabalho tem por objetivo diagnosticar e analisar a distribuição espacial da intensidade das ilhas de calor superficiais em Presidente Prudente - SP, considerando as características dos diferentes tipos de usos e coberturas das superfícies e dos sistemas atmosféricos atuantes nos 30 dias que antecederam a tomada das imagens de satélite. O tratamento das imagens de satélite resultou na produção de dois mapas termais e de NDVI (Índice de Vegetação por Diferencial Normalizada), sendo um representativo do período seco (15/07/2017) e o outro do período chuvoso (23/01/2018). Os resultados mostraram que as ilhas de calor superficiais foram identificadas no período chuvoso. No período seco houve certa homogeneização das diferenças das temperaturas dos alvos entre o rural e o urbano. A redução de água no sistema diminui a atividade fotossintética. As gramíneas secam e o solo exposto propicia o aumento das temperaturas dos alvos, deixando-os parecidos com as temperaturas das áreas construídas.
