Resumo: | The purpose of this article is the discussion of the relationship between social work and class struggles and the reproduction of capital and working classes questioning the linearity of that relationship. Its objective is to analyze the historical process of construction of the profession from its protoforms with its diversified organization in capitalist societies. The methodology presupposes the development of the profession in relation to the hegemony and contrahegemony of the dominant and dominated blocs. An integrative review of academic and professional production has been carried out with reference to iconic texts on the historical context and social work based on an epistemological reflection. The analysis of the results point to a deep relationship of social work with the socio-economic structure and the juridicopolitical superstructure in the dynamics of the correlation of forces in their contradictions between maintenance of the poor and excluded with benefits and social rights , their social control and legitimization of the system and the autonomy and protagonist action of the dominated classes in alliance with professional organizations in the struggle between dominant and dominated historical blocs. |
