Resumo: O presente trabalho pretende demonstrar o simbolismo no uso do turbante, discutindo sua representatividade, principalmente na cultura negra. Apresenta dados sobre as origens desse acessório, seu uso nos mais diversos países, como chegou ao Brasil e como participa da construção da identidade afro-brasileira, sendo, hoje, mais do que um acessório de moda, um símbolo de resistência cultural.
