Resumo: Este artigo analisa a origem e o desenvolvimento histórico da ideia de justiça social, desde as espécies clássicas propostas por Aristóteles até sua consolidação no século XX. A partir de uma pesquisa de revisão bibliográfica, localiza-se a presença do termo em alguns documentos internacionais e é feito comparações de como a expressão foi se expandindo com o intervalo de tempo entre os documentos analisados. O objetivo de tal pesquisa foi o de investigar se a expressão justiça social se estagnou com o tempo ou se ainda está presente em importantes documentos. Conclui-se que com o decorrer dos anos o seu sentido foi se alterando e abrangendo cada vez mais os direitos sociais.
